Its botanical name is Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight,' and it is hardy and versatile, capable of growing in a vast majority of the United States, including Hardiness zones 3-9. When cared for properly, the Limelight hydrangea has a notable tolerance to heat and mild drought.

The iconic cone-like clusters of light green flowers on the Limelight hydrangea are lightly aromatic and come into full bloom in early to mid-summer. The lime-green shade of the flowers is where this plant gets its name. As the temperatures begin to drop from late summer through fall, the foliage and flower hues of the Limelight hydrangea change, adding a unique splash of color to the landscape.
